This story takes place in the year 2007, In the small town of Saranac Lake, New York.

Troy Harvin is a 17 year old boy from the quiet, nice part of town, a humorous, passionate, kind delinquent with a good heart. An alcoholic mother, a little brother who he's spent most of his childhood helping take care of, a father who abandoned him at 12 and hasn't seen him since. He never felt like he fit in with anybody, until he met her. Lyric Sterling, a recovering drug addict, authentic, caring, intelligent but reckless, an 18 year old loner from the wrong side of the tracks. A mother with a 6 year old daughter who is biologically her sister that she was forced to raise her because of her mother. Her mom is a dangerous woman, a gang leader, who Lyric has spent most of her teenage years trying to avoid. She ran away from the town she grew up in when she was 15, trying to escape scientists who wanted to use what they thought was a special spark inside of her to perform tests that would transform her into what they believed could be used as a governmental weapon. Lyric and Troy instantly find a familiarity in each other that comforted them..they quickly fall into friendship which then quickly develops into what you might call love. He fell head over heels for her without any control, now he has to deal with the consequences of falling in love with his absolute best friend with a boyfriend, and not being able to have her. Little did Lyric know that the man that became her best friend who taught her how to trust again would also be the one to coax her heart back open.
