Cassandra decided to go home by herself instead of looking for Steve as usual, as she didn't feel like dealing with his reaction to her being hurt. He'd either lash out at his best-friend, who honestly did nothing wrong and could use a break, or at her for letting herself get hurt.
As annoying as his self-righteous attitude was, Cassandra would feel guilty of being accused of that in this particular situation, as she was indeed a little distracted by her husband's super-soldier ex-boyfriend best-friend. Circe, that's a mouthful.
Well, it's not her fault that he's hot. Steve probably agrees. Don't even go there Cass.
