After Agent Gideon's unexpected retirement, the BAU had some major shoes to fill. After working as a normal field agent for the FBI, Estella Presley finally gets promoted to Supervisory Special Agent and can finally hone her skills as a profiler with the deeper goal of putting someone of her past behind bars. However, life is full of surprises, and one comes in the form of the new Unit Senior Agent David Rossi. At first, Estella is fascinated by his confidence and experience as a profiler. But soon, her fascination becomes a problem when she realizes what she's feeling goes far beyond loyalty and professionalism. What will the team think if they find out about her growing crush on an older man? Will she get fired for harboring such feelings? And will she be able to hide it until, hopefully, it passes? She works with an experienced team of profilers after all...

For Agent Julie Wright, the newest profiler in the FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit, control is everything. Even though she is an expert in reading the silent confessions of others, she is fiercely protective of her own secrets, especially the anxiety that threatens to unravel her carefully constructed composure. In the world of the BAU, where every weakness is a liability, Julie knows she needs to keep herself composed. Then there's Dr Spencer Reid. He's a riddle she can't quite solve, a brilliant mind who seems to see past the facade she shows the world. Their connection is quiet, unspoken, a subtle shift in the high-stakes environment they work in. It's a complication Julie hadn't accounted for and perhaps a vulnerability she cannot afford. When a series of cases forces her to confront the darkness she's trained to analyse, the lines between her professional and personal life blur. In a job that demands she understand the minds of monsters, Julie finds that the most dangerous unknown is the truth of what she's willing to risk, and who she's willing to become. (Warning, written with a lot of help from AI, parts written by AI. I've spent many hours rewriting and ensuring it's a good story. If you dislike AI-generated stories, just be aware that some parts might still sound a bit AI generated.)
