What happened? War happened. The war between the royals and the rebels.
When people rejoiced about dethroning the royals, I mourned for my family's death. When the young witches and warlocks were learning magic, I was juggling between three jobs to make a living.
The once pampered princess is now disguised as a human barely managing to pay her bills. Even when nothing was okay, my life seemed tolerable. And that is until him.
Elijah, the warlock who led the battle. For others, he is their hero who saved them from the royals and for me, he is the villain who ruined my everything.

I sighed heavily as I scanned the forest. I had heard something or someone to be specific, wandering about. I decided I would leave once I affirmed they weren't a danger. How could they expect me, Alina to deal with being a witch and my fate being placed in a books pages? I knew since I was born that this day was coming but it didn't make it any easier as the weeks ticked by till my evaluation. The cursed book sorts everyone. Just not in the way you would think. It gives each child who comes into their magic, or form a curse. It can be cured but only when it believes you are worth salvation. It is a test of our character and almost all pass it. Although I've heard of stories where some have failed. They endured the curse and the torture it bares till they die. I was terrified of those stories and the thought that I or any one of my class mates could inherit such a horrid future.
