I twisted my ring around my finger and held my breath tight in anticipation of his answer. 

"Yeah, I guess we can."

He looked up at me with what I could only imagine was pain in his eyes. 

I never meant for this to be the way it all ended, but for some reason, I couldn't get myself to relive all the hurt again.
