My name is Eleanora Anne Whittle. When I turned eleven, I got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry. At first I thought it was some kind of joke, but then my grandmother told me about our ancestor, Anne Whittle, who was the first of the Pendle Witches tried in the 1600s.

I never knew my parents - my mother left me at my grandmothers when I was a baby, and when I asked about my father, I had been told that he was dead.

When I got older, I found that to be untrue.
