Running from her past back in Manhattan, Mae Maddox gets a teaching job in South Korea. Teaching the English language at a high school. On her way through the Incheon airport, she bumps into a stunning man named Park Taewon who she never thought she would see again. However, she did. On the busy streets of Seoul that night she finds herself in the arms of a handsome man with the name Kang Jihyung. Taewon who she bumped into earlier was with him. Things take an awkward turn when Jihyung invites Mae to dinner that night. Not expecting to see them ever again she is taken by a woman and two men to an entertainment company called Ult. High where she is met with yet again Jihyung. However, this time she is introduced to him as J.King an idol in a K-pop boy group called PITCHDARK. Not only is he an idol, but all of his friends she met that night including Taewon are also part of PITCHDARK. Tangled up in a messy scandal being seen on the streets with them, the group's manger then asks her to fake a relationship with Jihyung in exchange for heavy compensation. She agrees reluctantly. However, what is up with Taewon, whom she met first. What is his issue with her? He must just hate her? Or is he jealous?

Not only does Mae have to now rearrange her life to fit into a celebrity's, the moment she starts to experience in the spotlight bring back haunting memories from her past back in New York, that she left behind for a reason. How did she get stuck in a similar situation? And how can she keep those disturbing memories under the surface, while resisting the affectionate and handsome Kang Jihyung along with the stunning yet confusing, but thoughtful Park Taewon.
