Lucien: the Light That Was Almost Mine
I met him at my darkest. He was light-too bright, too beautiful. As if the world could never quite hold him. He had a mischievous smile, eyes full of stars, and a habit of saying the most ridiculous things right when I needed them. He made fun of me and I rolled my eyes. Somehow, in between the sarcasm and stubbornness, he became the only person I didn't want to lose. He offered me a strange deal. I said yes, mostly out of spite. But then he made me laugh again. He made me feel alive. He made me stay. At that time, I didn't know how much he would change me. Or how hard it would be to let him go. He was light. He was MY LIGHT. Not because he stayed, but because he changed everything before he left... In The Dark
Mia Graham. I've always thought of the world to be a good place. The people in it as well. This man is definitely intimidating and a bit scary but I see how sweet and caring he is. He shows me a lot but he hides even more. He thinks he's the dark and he's determined to show me that he's not worth my time. But he doesn't understand he's all I'll ever want. He doesn't get that I love every dark piece of him. I want everything. But I don't know if he'll let me have it all. Ryder Carson. The world is a terrible place. The people might be worse. That's all I've ever known. But this woman is a masterpiece. An angel. This world is unworthy of her light. These people get to bask in it when all they deserve is to be scalded. This life is terrible. But she's making it a whole lot better. She's making it seem worth it. I just don't deserve her. "What else do you want me to say, Mia?" "Did you mean it?" There is a pause and I just-I feel exhausted, the kind that 12 hours of sleep hasn't been able to fix. "Hannah said I don't deserve to be loved, is that how you feel too?" She might not have said it in as many words but that's exactly what she meant. He takes my hand in his and kisses it. "Between the both of us-it's I who doesn't deserve to be loved." "Too bad you already are." "Please stop saying it!" he may not have screamed the words at me but he might as well have.
