Echoes of Equestria

Dust settles onto the ground as fires rage high into the sky, painting it a dour show of hueless grays and pale reds - a grim reminder of what has come to pass.
*Clip-clop-clip-clop*
The hushed tones of hoofsteps echo throughout a ravaged and desolate Ponyville. "Oh my god..." A familiar purple alicorn turns her head to the sky, speechless as a single teardrop rolls down her cheek, settling in the dry and cracked dirt below.
"You alright, sugar cube?" A somber voice rings out from another familiar pony - an orange earth pony, donning a cowboy hat and bearing a trio of apples for a Cutie Mark.
"No... I'm not... I'm not alright, Applejack. King Sombra, Lord Tirek, Starlight Glimmer... we were able to stop of them before anypony got seriously hurt. But this... this is different," She looks around at the scorched remains of what was once a sanctuary of hope and love - but has been reduced to nothing but a silent memory of smoking embers and crumbling dust.
"This is madness."
