بخش‌های مترقی در ایتالیا در جریان اجلاس «گروه ۲۰» که هفته گذشته برگزار شد اعتراض عظیمی را سازماندهی کردند. در روز شنبه ۳۰ اکتبر، در جریان گشایش اجلاس، یک راهپیمایی عظیم زیر نام «شما گروه ۲۰، ما آینده!» برگزار شد. احزاب سیاسی چپ، سندیکاها، گروهای جوانان/دانشجویان، فعالین محیط زیست، و دیگران در آن شرکت کردند. معترضین ، اجلاس «گروه ۲۰» را که یک اجلاس هماهنگی بین‌المللی کشورهای پیشرفته است، به مثابه یک نمایشگاه عضلانی از نولیبرالیسم و امپریالیسم و ویترینی برای کشورهای قدرتمند مسئول استثمار و ستم جهانی، محکوم نمودند.
