But Espresso's problems lie elsewhere, it seems that some old familiar guests have come to visit...

An AU where Espresso was raised with the Cookies Of Darkness. Since he was merely a child, Espresso's one and only desire was to prove his worth to Dark Enchantress, his mother. Lonely. That's what Madeleine's been ever since the mage left. Sure, he has other people. He has his fans, he has Latte, he has the Divine who so graciously granted him that pair of feathered wings upon his back. But it's just not the same, not anymore. Not without Espresso. So when he finally gets the chance to meet the man he once loved yet again, he won't pass up the chance to protect him. He won't let him go again, even if it means fighting until his very last breath. --- This story is an AU where everyone's "human", just with food names. There are actually quite a few nonhumans/monsters, both turned and born. Madeleine is a turned creature, given wings and feathers by the Divine. There are many other such creatures, including Espresso. If that makes you uncomfortable in any way, you've been warned. You don't have to read this, you know. Also there's gay (of course) and they're both transgender because I said so and I wanted to make Madeleine suffer period cramps. Don't be homophobic.
