Lily is starting her first year at Hogwarts. She has been waiting this day for years, to prove herself, to find herself, to learn. She is ready for the barrage of questions about her parent's exploits in saving the wizarding world. People always want answers. The only answer she knows herself for sure is the one that her mother has always told her, on the anniversary of friend's deaths, when the news showed disturbing footage of the past, or pictures of the death eaters secured in Azkaban, when anything happened at all.
