The Lottery has been going on for centuries as a yearly tradition, although it is not what you think it is. No one has ever questioned it's origin, and the winners just except their fate. Until 2024, Ethan Hale was just a normal person, until he got picked for it. See his reaction to it all, and watch as him and his best friend Charlotte Summers figures out the horrifying truth behind the lottery.
(The idea was taken from Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery. Highly recommended that the reader watches The Lottery to get a better understanding of it. It can be found on YouTube in two separate parts).
(Also instead of towns everything is villages, just thought I would clear that up).

I always thought Nanna's stories were just tall tales, that is until I got back from uni. I've been away for two years. Away from my home, my family, my friends. Indecisive (COMPLETED)
After my escape, and yet another but brutal last year at the same high school, my school sent me their condolences and made sure to inform my future college of my past. I didn't bother to say goodbye to my "friends" or Preston, my ex. The police allowed me to change things, including changing my name & hair, but other than that, I was still me. Once I got my new identity, I tried to start anew. Moving me to a new place was the best thing the police and Dr Matthews allowed me to do, but it still didn't stop this nudging feeling that kept coming over me. I don't know why, but for some reason, I could tell that my kidnapper (Mr Blue) was going to come back for me. --- On the two year anniversary since my abduction, the past comes back to haunt me. The only thing that's changed is that I'm not the only one on his Hit List. My friends are too. I was finally happy after what happened to me during my junior year of high school. Three amazing people helped me find my way, and I wasn't about to lose them to the same person who abducted me little under two years ago. Sometimes a person just stumbles onto something that will dramatically change the way we all live. Through good luck or possibly misfortune, they do something that creates a chain reaction resulting in a whole new world or maybe destroying it. Aaron James was such a person. He had great ideals but the end result could NOT have been worse. Aaron was born in a time, before this present time, somewhere in THE PAST, when the World War went badly for the allies and we lost, when the calendar started not with JC, but from the Song dynasty, around one thousand years later. Aaron was born in the late 20's not 1920 AD but 920 AS (After Song). Aaron found a way to go back in time and he changed things, with the noblest of intentions. These changes made a huge difference, the calendar now started with the birth of JC (or pretty close) and the Allies won the Second World War. THE PRESENT time started out better and that is where we are NOW. The trouble is, sometime in our future, it all goes horribly wrong. After a night on the town, Sarah wakes up to a miserable hangover. But it's nothing compared to what comes next. After attempting to light a cigarette, she feels that something isn't quite right. Now I have to finish by May 5th. I'm not as far along as I had hoped at this point, but I'm sure I can make it. May 4th. 12:10 am. Finished. Submitted. Good night. May 20th. Well, 13 Points made the Long List. I have no idea how many original entries there were but about 940 made the first cut. There's 150 on the Long List. Not bad for my first time out. Now we'll wait and see how we fare on the Short List. May 30th. Well, Sarah and company didn't make the Short List. I can't say I'm disappointed though. Pictures Worth a Thousand Words
The path of life is a hard one and when you need to make a choice that determines your future, it just gets that much harder. Do you start all over in a new town? Do you stay and do something you don't know if you actually want to do? As long as you are lucky enough to have someone there beside you, you know no matter what you choose they will support you. But sometimes life changes and the people you thought would be there for you are gone. Leaving us alone to make the tough choices of life. It is then that we must choose, left or right? Charlotte is completing year 12. Teachers are on her back about the career path she wants to go down at the end of the year. Her family want her to stay but want her to also do what she wants, even if it means leaving. With the last few months and the stress of finding what she wants to do with her life, her and her group of friends decide to do something fun. Something they can do over the weekends before they graduate and all go their separate ways. But what is fun at the start, might be the reason it all ends. Growing up alongside the Hale family has kept her fairly well-informed about the creatures that lurk in the darkness. However, she didn't become one of those nighttime horrors until the end of her sophomore year- Derek had no choice but to turn her so she wouldn't die from her wounds after a kanima attack. The thing is, she didn't gain his fangs and claws. They say that the bite turns you into the shape of your character. Vera still isn't sure what to make of becoming some sort of glorified ghost. But with a pack of Alphas knocking on Derek's door and people disappearing left and right only to show up dead days later, she barely has time to think about anything else. It wouldn't be so terrible if it weren't for four specific facts: 1. The Alpha leader killed her father and may or may not be coming to finish her off. 2. Nobody seems to be safe from the mass murders in the town. 3. She has to spend more time than usual with Isaac Lahey, with whom she shares a mutual disliking. 4.
