Well, everything did. A once abandoned gem named Spinel came crashing into the Earth with one goal; to kill Steven.

So, when Steven's gem half reforms after being seperated, instead of knowing what diamond he is, what the diamonds are, and anything a diamond or any regular gem SHOULD know, he comes out imperfect.

He knows he's a diamond, he knows he belongs to Steven, but he doesn't know who or where he is or from.

Steven looks different compared to when he was kid, but after white diamond removed his gem he began to notice that something wasn't quite right so he went to the mirror and look at whats different and to his surprise, his hair was turning pink but thats not all he noticed, his Gem...it began to rotate to that of a diamond so he did the only thing he could think of, he went to the diamonds about this, so say they were shocked was an understatement, so white diamond began to explain that maybe when she removed his gem, the gem itself began to make changes because your human half can't take the diamond powers that are showing so it maybe changing you to be a half-Diamond, steven understood that his gem was only doing what it thought was protecting him. So he just let it happen even though it was hurting when his gem was rotating but white diamond said that it might take awhile for it to rotate. So he was just walking around in pain but doesn't let it affect him and he didn't tell the gems of the new changes yet.
