با تشکیل فرقه دمکرات آذربایجان به رهبری سید جعفر پیشه‌وری، خود را در این مسیر دیدم. بلافاصله به فرقه پیوستم و تمام توان خود را برای برآوردن آرزوهای خود به‌کار گرفتم. برای تحقق آرمان‌های فرقه، شب و روز نداشتم و به هر نقطه‌ای که لازم بود می‌رفتم، تبلیغات می‌کردم و در میان انبوه جمعیت سخنرانی می‌کردم. انرژیِ نوجوانی و علاقه به مردم در من نیرویی وصف‌ناپذیر ایجاد کرده بود. تا جایی که مسئولین فرقه برای حفظ جانم به من اسلحه دادند. بد نیست یادی کنیم از رفیق مهدی کیهان که به ما آموزش داد تا چطور از اسلحه استفاده کنیم‪.‬
