Sei paused and tilted his head while meeting Odi's eyes. It was true and Odi finally confirmed it for Sei. He didn't want to hurt those Immortals. The whole time he felt someone inside him screaming at him and telling him no. They prickled at the back of his mind each time his nail scratched a cheek or when his blade sunk into a body. The voice wanted him to stop. But at the same time, he felt his hunger for revenge became more placated, making him more unfeeling and unmoving in his resolve.
"It's okay," Odi's words were full of sorrow.
Sei placed a shaking hand on Odi's shoulder and prepared to make the final blow. As he brought back his hand Odi whispered, "Adasi will save you."
For a brief moment like a butterfly's wing brushing against a flower's petal, Sei's eyes expressed shock and his hand clenched Odi's shoulder. For the first time, someone else's words had made him stop. But as quickly as it came Sei returned to his emotionless state. Only Odi saw this and only Odi would know that there was hope for the Sei to break from his nightmare.
