Friendless and timid, Guinevere is stuck in her socially anxious shadow, content to let her sister lead and live a sheltered life. When health complications arise for her, and her friend group is falling apart around her as she can't guide them, she'll have to ask the essential questions that she can't simply answer in a quick sentence. The questions that she has long dismissed as unimportant. Is this what she truly wants, to be solely fulfilled by everyone else depending on her for support? And where does she draw the line? This story touches on potentially triggering content, including the use of slurs, toxic family relationships, anxiety, anger, and death. "Do you have any idea how damn frustrating you are?" He trapped me between him and the wall. Stubbornly, I looked squarely at him, "You say this like it's news to you." He pursed his lips, clenched his jaw, and stared at me with darkened eyes before he closed the gap between us. I stared at him squarely as I felt his body heat radiated off me, my lips parted and my breathing picked up a notch. He placed one hand on the wall and brought his lips an inch away from mine as the other hand trailed up my arms, "I am going to make you feel my frustration." I ran my finger along his jaw and dared him with my eyes, "I'm Mila," I grinned, "You can try but we both know you won't succeed." He ran his thumb over my bottom lip, "Don't take my love for you as weakness," he stated and captured my lips with a fiery kiss. The road to love for Mila and Mitchell wasn't easy, but they finally reached their destination after many bumps along the way. Blissfully in love, they set off on another journey together but instead of the Highway, they hit the high seas. However, love and life aren't always smooth sail and they learn that when they embark on their adult life after college. Mitchell is trying to prove to his father he is worthy of handling the grand Clarke Empire one day while Mila is determined to make her mark in the medical world. Two strong personalities have finally accepted they love each other but both are set in their ways and stubborn with unbreakable egos. I tell him as he sits there in silence. We both do. five minutes go by of both of us not saying anything. So I do. Two wrongs don't make a right, but what can you expect from teenagers?. I am republishing this for a friend who wanted to read a sample of my work. The plot is all over the place, but I know I'll revisit it in future. I initially wrote this in 2017 before I knew a lot of things I know now. There's a lot in here that is culturally insensitive. I have done my best to edit out what I could find at first glance, but if you see something glaringly offensive please make a comment about it so that I can correct my errors. The most egregious example that comes to mind is using the G-word for the Romani and relying on unflattering stereotypes. I plan to correct a lot of this in proceeding drafts.
