Elvis and Daisy grew up together. Despite being 2 years younger, Daisy quickly became Elvis's best friend, a 5ft 2 bundle of blonde girls and blue-grey eyes. She was mischievous, and unsettled, always wanting more. She fascinated him more than any other girl in Memphis.
Their friendship grew, but so did their love for each other. It was a deep love. She knew him inside out and back again, and he knew her just the same. In 1954, as Elvis's fame took off, Daisy was left behind. They parted, but he never did forget her.
In 1972, they meet again in Vegas. Daisy has been married to a man from Louisiana, but he loved his whiskey and beating on her when he lost a bet. Her life hasn't turned out the way she wanted it to, and those eyes of hers that were once so full of excitement and hope have become sad. Daisy is broken down. More than anything, she's lonely.
Elvis, despite being surrounded by fame and glitz and glamour, isn't happy. His marriage is going from bad to worse, and he misses the road. He's lonely, too, desperate for somebody to understand him again.
When he sees Daisy in the hotel he's staying in, he feels like it's 1953 again and he's back in Memphis, spending long summer days with her doing nothing and being happy doing it.
Will she be happy to see the man she once loved so madly? Or will she be angry about being left behind?
in which charlotte carrera finds herself more conflicted than she has ever been in her entire life.
