Lily is an ordinary girl. She's an A plus fan girl, just like her friends. Her parents are divorced. She has an older brother. But her dream comes true, and it turns out to be a nightmare.
"You're the one who sent me to Dauntless?" Lily asks, looking at the woman in amazement. "Of course, you stupid girl. You see, I've cursed you," the woman responds.
"What?"
"Do you know all the hearts you've broken? Sending your soul into the very pages you worship? The characters know you when you read, Lily. You are a Dream Crasher."
"Every book I've read... There are people who will never know me?"
"Yes, Lily."
"Why are you punishing me? How are you punishing me?"
"Love is the hardest thing to achieve, but the easiest thing to lose. You're very picky about boys. So I've chosen the ones you already love. There are others like you though. Some innocent paying for crimes they weren't aware of. You will break. A broken heart is the worst pain there is."
