Faith "Shinji" Lawson, a soon to be sixteen girl struggling with anxiety, was accepted to be an exchange student in Japan, enrolled for ten months at the Fukurodani Academy. Monday morning, while touring the school, she agreed to take a closer look at the volleyball gymnasium. She had played for a semester in eighth grade, before her knees truly showed they weren't doing OK. While she was busy talking with coach Yumiji, Bokuto Koutarou noticed how many boxes her appearance checked off on his list. He wondered about her dark circles and what her musical was about. Akaashi Keiji was supportive of Bokuto and Faith's mutual crush, and had no issue getting along with Faith. But as he watched his best friend spend more time with Faith, self-doubt seeded in his mind. He knew why it was so hard to watch.
