Because of her families wealth, you would think she would be a Loyalist, but in reality, she is a Patriot. During the American Revolution, Elinor must decide if she wants to proudly support her fight for freedom on the battle field, or stay low and watch everything happening.

Not untrained men taking on the best army in the world. Not even a peasant marrying a prince. The patriots might actually have a chance if we go to war, Elinor thinks.
