It's been fifteen months since the defeat of Aizen. Fifteen months since Ichigo Kurosaki lost his soul reaper powers and all ability to see spirits. Despite the relative peace after the war against Aizen and his arrancar, hollows are still actively causing major problems for the residents of Karakura Town. Each day Ichigo sees his friends growing more and more exhausted from fighting the hollows. After a string of strange and near fatal incidents begin occurring around Ichigo's friends, Ichigo becomes unwilling to stand by. In the depths of Ichigo's soul, and the pits of the Spiritual World, somethig dark stirs, awakened by Ichigo's renewed desire to protect his loved ones.
