Tomioka Giyuu's always identified as genderfluid, but since becoming the water hashira everyone's always assumed "he" was male, but he never cared enough to correct them... because he had bigger problems to deal with.
No one even knew that Giyuu struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, and gender dysphoria for years - all while working along side the wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa. Shinazugawa is rough, aggressive, and loud, but when he finds Giyuu standing at the edge, the facade falls.

∑• AUTHOR'S NOTE: I was severely depressed and was struggling with suicidal ideation while writing this from January to March of 2025. I'm now on antidepressants and can think clearly so I've edited this because honestly when I first wrote this, both my thoughts and writing were foggy and incoherent. :[ The story/plot is still the same, I just fixed the flow of the sentences because it was hard to follow since my mental health was so poor. :)
