She stepped into the crowded elevator and stood near a young man she hadn't seen before, their height difference immediately being made obvious. The top of his head barely brushed her shoulders.
Suddenly the elevator shifted and his elbow caught her in the side, making her jump.
She turned her furious gaze down to him and stared at him in silence. A pregnant pause later she spoke up,
"Six people have exited the elevator since I got on, it really isn't that crowded, watch where you're going".
Although she hadn't said much, her tone had successfully frightened him into submission. He bit his lip nervously, looking down regretfully towards his briefcase, "Sorry, I didn't mean it" he whispered.
Great. Now he was making her feel bad. he was so adorable she had just wanted to mess with him but maybe she'd been a little harsh. The elevator dinged and the doors slid open, revealing the lobby.
"It's fine. But my advice Mr. Kennedy, try not to be so docile, trust me, you won't survive here", she said, stepping out onto the marble tiles.
She had struggled more than many of her seniors had to get where she was.
