The only way to survive on the streets of Ifmor is to align yourself with one of the three houses: House of Mirth concerns itself with entertainment, a house full of dancers, musicians, as well as gladiators and prostitutes. House of Steel makes the finest warriors, mercenaries, and brutal assassins. Irri - desperate to escape a life of desperate poverty joins the House of Hand - the most devious thieves and spymasters.
When she realizes that the world is cruel and dangerous even with protection from her House Lord, Irri concocts a new plan - to bring the houses together under one roof and one ruler - herself. The throne is hers if she can play her cards right. And an alliance with the cruel, cold 2nd-in-command of House of Steel, known by all as the Reaper, could help solidify her chances.
