Part I of the Racing To the Beat Series. 

Kit Dunn is a formula 1 racer for Williams racing team. One day at a track she is running late with a cup of tea in her hand and bumps into someone else (Pierre). They then bump into each other again the next day and they make a deal as Pierre blames himself for the accident, so now he has to make her coffee for the rest of the season. This new deal leads to friendship and eventually love.

Golden drops of sunshine, windows flung wide open, yet they didn't smile at each other since it would make things weird. Apricots and honey in the air, ice cream cones on the pavement, yet they didn't allow themselves to feel the summer, the love. Maybe they were destined to be leftovers, spares, uneaten, untouched, unwanted. Maybe they were destined to be a pair of abandoned apricots.
