In this work I have attempted to give the 19th century Swedish ballad called ''Herr Mannelig'' Dutch lyrics for my own enjoyment and that of others. The ballad is about a mountain troll trying to seduce a Christian man with many dowry gifts, but ultimately getting rejected. Some believe the mountain troll is symbolic for pagan women being able to offer Christian men anything but salvation. The Group ''Garmarna'' has made a beautiful rendition of the ballad.
