The name Avery Reeves was one known throughout the entirety of Panem.

A tribute. A victor. A murderer. An opposition to the very foundations of the Capitol and those who benefited from the slavery and starvation of poorer districts.

President Snow, having been in desperate need of eradicating the rebellion and those affiliated with it, specifically designs the third quarter quell of the annual hunger games to dispose of the victors on the verge of leading an uprising against him. It's a perfect solution for him, because this way, their deaths will be seen as entertainment, rather than an assassination.

Twenty four lethal victors will enter the arena in a weeks time, and in the span of a few days they will picked off one by one until a lone victor arises. Avery Reeves has every intention of being the one that leaves the arena alive, and she is more than certain that she will succeed as she did years ago. She won't let anything stand in the way of her grand plan, and in a game of kill or be killed there is only one rule : Hail to the Victor

Like all children in his world, 14-year-old Finnick Odair had the chance of being chosen for the Hunger Games. In a pool stock full of names, he was just as vulnerable as anyone from the ages of 12-18. And in District Four, which often tends to produce Career tributes, its residents could only hope that this year's pair would fall under that description. On Reaping day, a 14-year-old boy's name is called. A name that is often whispered down the hallways of the local high school, giggled at, fawned over. The gasps that arose afterwards were monumental. Him, of all people? It couldn't be, could it? Yet it was. At age 14, Finnick Odair was called forth to be a tribute in the 65th annual Hunger Games. Many stood there and thought, "He's just a pretty face. How could he possibly bring home the victor's crown?" However, some people are far more than a pretty face. In fact, it's even said that those with such captivating allure are most often the ones that can catch you off guard and bring you to your knees. __________________________ Excerpt: ❝25, 24, 23...❞ I can do this. I have the skills, the desire...I can win. It's possible. I know it's possible. The odds may be against me, against all of us, but one of us has to win. ❝15, 14, 13...❞ To everyone in District Four who is watching; to my mom, dad, and Annie Cresta, I'm making a promise to you. ❝7, 6, 5, 4...❞ Whatever happens here, I will fight like hell to come back home, ❝3, 2, 1...❞ I promise you.
