Their paths cross in the most unexpected way, with Valeria being commissioned by the Athelaric Royal Family to save Prince Arlo from a vicious rebel group. Like most girls in her kingdom, Valeria used to have a crush on the Prince. But for the sake of her job, she has completely cast it aside- her sights set on the hefty reward for his rescue. At least at first. Valeria's journey is filled with many surprises- from slaying deadly monsters to experiencing new cultures. Along the way, she joins forces with fellow mercenary, Jae, reconnects with her childhood friend Mosi, and meets a mysterious stranger named Yue. But as time goes on, Valeria realizes that her task may not be as simple as originally stated, and uncovers a plot that has much more than the Prince's life at stake. Valeria finds herself at the intersection of multiple international conflicts- specifically one between the mighty and righteous Light Elves, a mysterious group known as the Hidden, and a broken messiah. Things begin to escalate, and more and more, Valeria begins to realize she might have bitten off more than she can chew. Forget money and comfort- she has to find a way to get herself out of this mess! Mirai comes from a long line of witches who have been particularly gifted in using their inner sight. As such, she's trained her sight from a young age. She's always been a disappointment, however, as the only thing she's ever been able to see is the vague image of a girl. On her 18th birthday, Mirai discovers a mark on the back of her neck displaying the number thirty. From her first proper vision, she deduces that unless she finds the girl before the number reaches zero, both of them will die. Only being able to depend on her less than mediocre skills in seeing the future, Mirai sets out to find the girl before the time is up. Little does she know of the trauma the girl has suffered, nor that finding her is only the beginning. ---------- Mature rating due to: smut, violence, suicide (happens in the prologue while POV-character has her back turned), rape (happens in chapter 30 and will be mentions of it afterwards, fade to black, there will NOT be a trigger warning at the beginning of the specific chapter), violent death of babies, some rather bloody scenes, self-harm, extreme guilt.
