Growing up as the son of an Irish immigrant mother and a Texan father on a cattle farm in Texas wasn't as great as Jameson had read, or what he could understand, from books, Jameson had learned to ride a horse when he was six and rope only two months after that, in his teen years, much to both his mother and his father's dismay, he rodeoed for money to live on since he decided when he turned sixteen he'd leave the farm and make a living another way, when he was twenty he received a letter from his mother about his father, his father had lost a game of poker and refused to pay his debt, so the man shot his father in his abdomen and his father wasn't expected to live through the week.

(Author here, the mature label ain't a joke in this one, it gets pretty brutal.)
