W.I.C.K.E.D. wasn't careful enough. Through the help of a friend, Kelley managed to erase her memories of the horrifying world she had lived in and sent herself into the Maze. She hoped for a fresh start; a new life without the insufferable emotional pain that had tormented her constantly. 
The process of entering the maze was too easy, too promising. She should have known that things wouldn't stay simple forever. No one can avoid fate, but that was exactly what she set out to do.
