This is an AU where Link dies and the master sword does not look at Zelda and tell her to save Links life, it tells her to take the sword for herself and save Hyrule, and although Zelda has had no training in the way of the sword, she's Hyrules last hope one way or another.

The Goddess Hylia appointed but two children to prevent the end of the world. The powers they were promised don't come easily, and after years of outright failure, Princess Zelda can't help but wonder if Hylia chose wrong.
