If Kaz Brekker was a demon, then she was the Devil incarnate. On that, all of Kerch agreed. Ileska Vieder: Panther, Panthertine, She-Devil, Anastajia. The young woman had had many names in her years and would only collect more as she grew older. If she grew older. The barrel is a dangerous place, after all. To the bastard of the barrel, she was a nuisance, but a necessary nuisance; someone he needed as an ally in order to survive their biggest heist yet. To everyone else, she was an enigma - someone they wanted to unpick but would never dare to on fear of their lives- the monster mothers threatened their children with.

But, if you asked her - asked the shadow herself - who she was, your most likely reply would be a claw in the neck. For, Ileska Vieder didn't know who she was and, quite frankly, didn't care. What she did care about: destruction, revenge, and (of course) as much pleasure as one could squeeze out of their wretched world.

But the world has different plans and rumours of a new Saint - a woman who can control the sheer force of the sun - across the Fold spells danger for her life of anonymity. If Kirigan gets his hands on her for too long, he will have all he needs to free himself from the constraints of reputation. Anastajia may have to return once more.
