A new Kirigakure has emerged out of the ashes of the bloody Civil War between the tyrant Yagura Karatachi and the rebel leader Mei Terumi. The New Mizukage, Mei, is reforming Kirigakure into a great power once again. And in her plans, the centrepiece of this new Kirigakure are the next generation of the 7 Swordsmen of the Mist.

Naruto and Shikamaru, recruited onto the squad, must take on dangerous challenges, battle ferocious enemies, and fight to keep staying in their new home.
