Off the coast of North Carolina is a small island called Nereid Island. On this island is not much more than a tourist based town and the small residential population of 1,136 people. But this island has a very big secret. One that only few believe in and even fewer know about. Nereid Island is home of the oldest species of mermaids. But if the world knew, or even the town- they would be hunted. Treated as science experiments. While people search for the unknown they don't always like the change it might bring when they find it. But what happens when the unthinkable happens? Even after being so careful after all these years. When someone gets video proof of a real life mermaid? The year is 2136. Kids with special abilities have started to be born. But only a handful. All kids that start to show signs must be handed over to the government or legal action will be taken to seize the child. Scientists want to find the root of this new gene popping up in the newest generation. Why it's only a select few. What makes them so special. But some kids slip through the cracks. Then all they can do is run. So run they do. Follow along the story of Kore Okeanid- a mermaid separated from her family during a scramble to hide their secret and a group of four unordinary teenagers on the run.

I'd Like to think I was a good person, before it all began. I didn't cheat on tests, or steal. But throughout my entire life, I was treated if I were a monster. At the age of five, after several agonizing tests, I was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. But not even that title could describe just how strange I was. When another kid got hurt, I would cry. Whenever someone else was told a funny joke, I would laugh hysterically. People looked at me as if I were crazy- and for while I agreed with them. That was until I, Caddie Jones, was exiled to Nox Haven Academy, a school for truly special kids. Not the mentally ill, psychotic kind of special but the magical kind. Like witches, vampires, fairies and werewolves. Call me crazy if you want, you wouldn't be the first. But the stories are all true. The supernatural did exist and I was one of them. Life there was cool until suddenly, I was faced with two-faced witches, egotistical princes, hormone driven werewolves, and an army of evil warlocks who were threatening to destroy the world. ... Maybe Nox Haven was a school for psychos after all. ---------------------------------------------------------- Highest Rank: #2 in Paranormal 1st Place winner of The Night Shift's Killer Competition 4/10/16 Illustration by: Stephanie Pitino (www.ClairObscur.fr) (1st book in series)
