The story of a sandwing dragonet, orphaned by the war of the sandwing succession, and her struggle to survive.
Phoenix has a dark past, and a dark present. She embraces the fact that she will have a dark future. Growing up alone has left a mark on her. She accepted the fact that she was incapable of love or friendship, and shows no concern for other dragons or the world outside the scorpion den. She knows how to do two things only, survive, and kill. But when she emerges into a world at war, that could all change. For better, or for worse.

Nightjar is a hybrid between a nightwing and a mudwing and that doesn't make her life simple at all. She doesn't know who are her true parents and she feels ignorant and empty every day. Her adoptive mother, one day decides to tell her what she knows about her real family but it is not enough for Nightjar. Why did she have not seen at least one time her real father or mother ? If they died, what happened to them ? She needs to find answers to her questions and she will do it her way, the price doesn't matter, because it is her heritage. What she knew was she was determined. But what she didn't know was that this adventure would take her to her limit. (Note that this story is based on the universe of Wings Of Fire. However, a surprising event leads him to face his past and gives a new direction to his life. This story takes place about 3 years after book number 15. Contains characters and references to events from the three Wings of Fire book series, including the Dragonslayer.
