Ex Navy Seal and POW, Artemis Barton finally gets to return home to her brother. But the years in the camp have changed her, and normalcy doesn't make any sense.

'Pain, like trust, is a stupid thing. It's our brain acting out in an attempt to help us, but it doesn't. When the pain is blinding and won't stop, our brain doesn't do anything. It just sits there and laughs at our agony. Pain is meant to warn us, supposedly, to direct us, to make us realize we are being idiotic. But when we know, when we need to do something undoubtedly painful, our brain becomes stupid.'

'Love is stupid, but somehow I still fall into it's trap.'

I might go through and just redo it, but I want to get it done or closer to done first. First few chapters are a little (lot) rocky but hopefully it gets better. This is also Wattpad, where greatness is rare but random ideas are not ;)

Tony smiled, clearly struggling to keep his voice steady as he hopped off his chair to kneel in front of me, taking my scarred hands in his rough ones. "Having you in our lives makes it more of an adventure. We wouldn't ever want you to leave, you are one of us okay? You're like a daughter to me, to all of us - hey, why are you crying?" "I'm sorry." I sniffled, roughly wiping the tears off my cheeks before I let him wrap me up in a hug. "I just never felt like belonged anywhere before and to hear you say that... it just means a lot to me." "Well, it's true Emily." Bruce smiled back as he put his hand on my shoulder as I kept my head buried into Tony's chest, saturating his shirt with my tears. "So don't ever think otherwise, okay?" -.-.-.- I do not own any of the Marvel characters in this book except for Emily. All ideas are purely my own. -.-.-.- WARNINGS: This books contains violence, severe mental health issues (including suicide) and coarse language that a certain Steve Rogers wouldn't approve of. -.-.-.- HIGHEST RANKINGS: #2 hydraexperiment - 23.01.24 #4 adoptedbyavengers - 23.01.23
