"No demi-god will ever capture your heart, Reyna." Aphrodite's words still haunt Reyna. She was falling for Nico but couldn't fall for him all the way because she was afraid of Aphrodite's promise. "I can't. I can't be broken again." She said to her reflection on the mirror hanging on the wall. "Not again."
Nico starts to convince her otherwise.
"I love you, Reyna Ramirez." He reached for my hand. "I love you so much." I squeezed his hand. "I-I love you too." Reyna felt warm and tingly. It's official, I love him. And he loves back, all is great.
"Remember my promise, Reyna." Aphrodite's voice rang in her head. I closed my eyes. "Please Go away." I whispered. "what?" Nico asked. "Not you hun, I-I though I saw a fly." A say to him nervously. I hear Aphrodite giggle. "Remember me, Reyna."

But when Nico di Angelo, her long-before "partner in rescue", turns up at Camp Jupiter, him with his shy demeanour and shady past, Reyna starts to wonder if Aphrodite was really right about her not being able to find love. A last shred of hope ignites her heart and for once again she begins to ponder the true meaning of romance and what it holds in her future. Nico has been crushing on guys like Percy Jackson for ages--there's no way he could ever like a girl. When Will Solace turns up and starts to date him, he gladly accepts, driven by his extreme loneliness and the fact that he's different from the others. "Different", as in the inevitable "Nico di Angelo is gay!" or something of that sort. However, when he travels to Camp Jupiter for a "mission" planned by his dad, his ulterior motive...brought Reyna and him even closer together. That particular "mission" is equal to his downfall. His face went slack. "NICO!" I called, shaking him awake. Come on. Please. He started to stir. His eyes, filled with anger, instead of the normal pools of sadness, which were replaced with warmth and happiness after he met me. His face contorted into a wicked smile. This was not the Nico I knew. Not my boyfriend. Something cold and hard gripped my back. A skeleton's bony hand clawed into my skin. "Nico... Please..." I whispered. It wasn't terrifying, not exactly, but a profound melancholic ache settled within her. She sat up, the ashen petals crunching softly beneath her. Her fingers traced the familiar grip of her bow, still clutched in her hand. Artemis had always been a constant, a guiding light, even in the darkest of times. But now... now the light felt distant, extinguished. "I never did thank you, did I?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper. "Thank me for what?" "For protecting me" The girl took a deep breath. "The other side Nico! We will see you there. Understand?" Nico's eyes widened. "But-" "Lead them there!" Percy shouted. "Promise me!" „I-, I will." Nico watched in horror how Percy promised Annabeth to always stay together, to never be apart again. Then, Percy let go and he and Annabeth fell down. All around, he could hear the others shouting and running to help. All too late, Percy and Annabeth were gone. Suddenly, Nico heard another sound. A strange crackling was increasingly more and more prominent, until it drowned the voices of the remaining five. Before he realized what was happening, the ground beneath his torso was crumbling away, larger and larger pieces were disappearing in the hungry darkness below. Nico did not have time to react. The next thing he knew, he was falling too. OR Three demigods fall into Tartarus after finding the statue of Athena Parthenos. For better or worse, it is not the first time for Nico.
