Alina receives a letter explaining that the Darkling has returned. Her husband, Mal, goes with her to meet up with him again. Things are back where they started. She feels drawn to him, there is this pull there and she can't figure out what it is. There is light in him and she can't help but want to coax it out. If only he could stop this madness and greed. Could he be saved?
