It's the mid-2080's and VR is the new tech revolution. Mind-Machine link doesn't need an implant anymore, and the company behind this breakthrough became the biggest tech giant ever with the release of the first Open world VRMMORPG ever.

Starlight International had a vision of revitalizing the fantasy of the entire planet and threw all its resources into creating the most diverse game ever to hit the markets. 10 Years after their announcement to challenge and change the gaming industry, Starlight International rolled out Divine World Online, a virtual reality game that changed the face of not only the game market but also every other department of the world. Boasting a full mind saturation system the game enables the player to truly experience the game as if he/she was present inside a new world.

In just a few weeks the number of active players reached the 8 digit number. In a few months, it became an absolute necessity to play the game. Due to the time difference in the game of 4 days to 1 day in the real world, schools now held classes in-game for longer hours using private servers; Armies, Navies, and Air Forces have requested private customized servers where they can practice combat tactics in different environments, Companies now had meetings and practice trading techniques in-game and testing of new methods to be used in the real world has become a trend.

After one year of the game's release, everyone was and is playing the game now. Everyone, but a small orphaned boy of 16 yo who is busy lifting boxes for a convenience store to get some money to buy food and survive the harsh realities of the world around him.

What would you do if you found yourself trapped in a video game as an NPC with seemingly no hope of returning to the real world? Having grown up without parents, Daisuke finds himself in a perpetual cycle of poverty as he tries to survive in the bottom rung of society. When the world's first VRMMORPG, Sehreneti Online, is released to the public, he decides to take a gamble by borrowing a buttload of money from some shady people to propel his hack-selling side hustle into the big leagues. After nearly getting his leg twisted into a pretzel for failing to pay off his loan on time, Daisuke decides to put his plan, Operation Jupiter, into action. Although a cool-sounding name, he didn't seem to be in Lady Luck's good graces that day. After uploading the code into his capsule and commencing the startup, everything goes haywire, booting his consciousness into the virtual world. When Daisuke comes to, he finds himself as a newborn fresh out the meat oven-and, of course, his circumstances are far from ideal. Apparently, he is still poor, but instead of being an orphan, he is now the son of a prostitute in the slums, with seemingly no connection to the game system or the real world. How will Daisuke overcome this trial, and will he be able to return to the real world? If you enjoy GameLit and LitRPG light novels such as Sword Art Online, Solo Leveling, The Rising of the Shield Hero, and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, then you'll definitely enjoy this epic tale!

Today I want to die. Not because of anything in particular or specific, but just because the utter thought of ceasing to exist sounds devastatingly euphoric. To make the noise stop. To stop this stabbing pain in the lowest pit of my stomach that's causing a burning sensation that crawls all over my skin, making me want to peel it off. To stop the guilt that festers every time I take a breath-- an oxygen thief. To stop the constant urge to detonate over anything and everything that dares to love me because in all-- I could never deserve such an honor. Today I want to die. For the longest time, I thought I was just unlucky. That sometimes life doesn't work out for everyone, and for people like me; things just never get better. I had settled into the life of being unlucky, reveled in it, and found comfort in knowing that no matter what; I would just be categorically unlucky. That was until I realized luck had nothing to do with it. It's karma. It's the idea of what goes around comes around, and what goes up must come down. Didn't some philosopher speak to that once? However, it isn't my karma. Well it wasn't at first-- somewhere down the line after all my wrongdoing I'm sure it has switched to mine. But I am the poor soul stuck with my father's karmic retaliation. The karma that he deserves has been thrown against me as some sort of sick cosmic joke-- I'm sure he'd actually celebrate and feast on the fact that once again, he still gets to hurt me even from his grave. Too bad I killed him before he had the chance to see. *Book One in the Karma Duet. Book Two is now in progress, titled: The Karma Study*
