Dead Hands

Endure. Survive. Only a few weeks into this apocalyptic world and almost all hope seems to be lost. There's a young woman trying to navigate this grueling world and her group which she has grown fond of. How long will they last? Will friends soon turn to enemies? Or worse, the living dead that now surrounds them.

"What do we do?" I asked in a hushed tone.
"I don't know." He snapped with a worried expression. My heart raced, I felt as though it was about to beat out of my chest.
"Look," He pointed to a window high on the wall, I could see the dust particles as the sun shone through. "If we could find a path to get there."
"We'll never be able to reach that," I said exasperated. Even if he gave me a lift there was no way, especially in our situation.
"What do you suggest then?" He asked but it sounded rhetorical.
We were running out of options and fast.
