"Kodi," a voice whispered in my ear. It sounded oddly familiar. I turned my head slowly and found the creature's face beside mine. It's black and blue eyes seemed to glow. I opened my mouth to shout, but it's hand quickly clamped over my face, blocking off all sound. I tried to pull away, but it gripped my shoulder tightly. "Don't run from me. You're mine to play with."

Growing up, Kodi's life was rough. Not only was he an outcast among humans, but he was also shunned by his own kind. His abusive mother considers him nothing but a burden and she blames him for his father's death. Although Kodi didn't remember what happened that night when his father disappeared, deep down he still believed it was his fault. After the recurrrance of a disturbing dream, Kodi starts to question some of the people around him, including his own mother. Will Kodi ever find out what really happened to his father? If he does, will his view of those around him still be the same?
