Wei Wuxian opens his eyes in a strange room. The past memories rush in but along with the memories of the loss and the hatred is the distinct memory of his own death. It takes him a while to realize that the body he inhabits is not his own. He has been dead for sixteen years. The World has changed a lot. The Jin Clan of Lanling fell when Jin Guangshan died and Jin Guanyao fled to avoid being punished for crimes against humanity, namely the ill treatment of the Wens.
