After the experiment is over, Tobias Eaton lives in the newly settled Chicago. When his mother arrives in the city, he is afraid she might threaten the peace in the city. Along with this, Tobias still feels grief over the loss of Tris. Will he be able to save the city and deal with his grief? This story is told in "then" and "now" parts. The Then parts being before the epilogue of "Allegiant" and the Now parts take place after the epilogue.Complete

{BOOK ONE} There are five factions. Each had their own reasoning for thinking why the war had happened. Dauntless; cowardice and fear. They strive to be brave, fearless. Erudite; ignorance. They strive for intellect, to be smart and curious. Candor; deception. They strive to be honest. Amity; they blamed the war itself along with fighting. They strive to be kind, forgiving, peaceful. Abnegation; selfishness. So they strive to be selfless. Dauntless are our police. Erudite are our teachers. Candor is the law. Amity are the farmers. And Abnegation are our government. I would sit on the ground everyday, wearing my yellow dress with black sandals. Wasn't the best thing for me. Dresses made my shoulders to broad, especially the flowing ones. When I was home alone, or with my mother, I would wear I tight black shirt and white shorts. No one would really approve, mostly because they were Candor colours along with the fact it's not... welcoming enough. I never understood Amity, not because of the kindness and the peacefulness; well, mostly the peacefulness. Whenever it should come down to defending ourselves or walking away. We walked away. It confused me. Maybe I wasn't Amity enough to understand. Maybe I wasn't kind enough. Maybe, just maybe, I didn't belong here. So where do I belong? The one who wanted for something that her parents were supposed to give to her, but neither of them did. Her brother Tobias was the only one who did, and they both shared the pain of an abusive father, Marcus Eaton. They knew that they had to get away from him and his abusive ways, they also didn't care how they did, but one thing was for certain.
