When Dutch Van Der Linde, Micah Bell and Arthur Morgan stumble across Violet Adler after a crisis that robbed her of the last family she had-her dearest brother, Jake Adler, and beloved sister-in-law, Sadie-she's offered a home. A temporary one, until she could regain her footing in the world that was beginning to shun outlaws.
A thirst for vengeance causes her to seek a mentor in Arthur, the outlaw who could handle the notorious Wild West better than anyone she'd known. But as the gunslinger passes on his knowledge, she may find herself giving up something, too, for a fairer exchange: her heart.

A few gangs still roamed, but they were being hunted down and destroyed. This is the story of one of those gangs that roamed the west. The Van Der Linde gang, a group of people who have chosen to reject the rules of society and the power of the government, not wanting to be ruled by anyone and instead living by their own code and laws. After a failed heist in Blackwater, the group, led by Dutch van der Linde, will travel east across America to escape those who pursue them, encountering an old rival, and dangers around every corner. As internal conflict starts to brew, Arthur Morgan and his childhood friend, (Y/N) (L/N) are forced to choose between their ideals and their loyalty to the gang. ... Dutch Van der Linde, Hosea Matthews, and their adopted progeny look different in 1891. Mostly peaceful, largely law-abiding (with some natural exceptions)...the tensions between Arthur Morgan and John Marston revolve not around the pull of a trigger but the daughter of Dutch Van der Linde, who John has grown up loving, and Arthur's just come to notice. How will their shifting affections affect, in turn, the motley family they've built? *** This is a new prequel to the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, featuring an OC, Dutch's daughter Emmylou "Lou" Van der Linde. A heads-up that I did write a short with Dutch's daughter in it a while back ("Three Protégés", in the Bellicose collection, but this one will be different. Mostly romance, some darker themes coming in (can't help myself). Definitely 18+! All characters from RDR2 belong to Rockstar Games. (Also a note that I couldn't find a credit for who edited the pic of young John I used for my cover - if this was you, I love it!)
