An Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, or ADCP, is a device that uses sound waves to measure the speed and direction of currents through the water column. It is used to measure movement in the water, both in the form of waves and currents. ADCPs are often anchored to the seafloor to measure waves and currents throughout the water column or mounted horizontally to measure waves and currents through rivers and canals.
