As the concrete sidewalk passed beneath my feet, I caught a glimpse of the white van that had been following me for a while. The van was dirty and more of a brown than white, but you could still see most of the white shining through the decaying body. There were no windows in the back, only the front, where a slouching silhouette sat and looked yonder. It said "Dave's Electric Company" in worn out colors on the side of the rusted doors. The door clicked open, and my blood ran cold.

"Shit!" I muttered under my breath. He pulled open the door and headed for me with a smile that made my skin crawl. I withdrew my gun from my bag and hid it under the table. "Ah Blake Reid. At last we meet!" He pulled out the chair directly across from me. "Who are you and why have you been following me?" I growled. "I'm the man who is going to kill you," he gave me a masochistic smile. I withdrew my gun from its place under the table. It was pointed between his eyes and I took pleasure in the shock that was on his face. He had only gotten his gun halfway out. The staff was still unaware of me holding a gun to this man's head because they were all around back in the kitchen. "Sorry, but that's just not going to happen," I said sweetly. "In such a public place? How brazen of you," he challenged in a shaky voice. "Yes, all the staff is in the back where they can't see us. Oh and if you didn't notice, there's a silencer on my gun. Say good-bye my dearie," I pulled the trigger and sent the bullet through his head. Blake Reid isn't your normal 17 year old. She's an assassin on her last case... or so she hopes. In a dystopian world, where the strongest prevails, having peace is a luxury. Especially when someone from the past is out to destroy everything we have built up over the past 15 years. And with Christmas approaching, our group get to face ten hellish days. Preview: In his fury, the chains have rubbed his wrists and neck raw, despite me trying to calm him down. He suddenly calms down when the screams in the cell next to us switch to the sound of bones breaking. Now he sits with foam on his lips and his eyes wide, looking that way. After ten minutes, the sounds of the boys in our cell have died down, and we all look at the wall that separates us from the crackling of the breaking bones. And then suddenly all is quiet. After a few silent minutes, our cell door opens slowly. From the ball of light from the ceiling, the little girl in the doorway is illuminated. She is completely covered in blood and doesn't move. Then she opens her eyes and carefully walks towards us. And despite everything, my first impulse is to crawl backwards, away from the unnatural calm radiating from her. ------------- After reading yet another great older brothers/younger sister story, where the family gets reunited after years of separation, the sister keeps the secret that she was abused and assaulted all along, and the brothers conceal their work in the mafia, I decided to give it also a try. The output of my story was initially to turn this around with openness and unconditional support and the torture should happen right in front of their very eyes. Because no story is complete without the (un)necessary bloodshed, action, humour and, of course, a bad guy. And who knows, to throw everything completely upside down, the main character may not survive. I won't write warnings above each chapter, because most of them contain violence, blood, torture, etc. Constructive criticism is welcome. Ow, and English is not my first, second or third language. So if I mess up somewhere, let me know!
