"I hate you Jace Lockheart."

"Don't worry sweetheart. I hate you more."

----

Jace Lockheart met Juliana Walker on that fateful day in the playground's sandbox. From there, they were inseparable and became each other's first best friend.

Everything was perfect going into freshman year, until Juliana moves away without telling Jace a word.

Blocking Jace on everything, Jace feels betrayed, and the two live separate lives.

Years pass, and Juliana returns to the same town she met Jace in for senior year. Although this time, Jace wants nothing to do with Juliana, and Juliana decides she wants nothing to do with him either.

Somehow, they end up in the same classes together, fighting for valedictorian spot. The constant bickering and arguing lands them in detention together, and they learn a lot was left unsaid before Juliana left.

This time, I can't help but flinch as he touches me and pulls the other strap down .. baring my other shoulder to his eyes. "Anthony .. you can't say those things. We .. we're supposed to be best friends." As I try to reason with him, he begins to kiss my shoulder .. making the words come out so much more weaker than intended. Anthony stays quiet after what I say, or rather he ignores me, instead using his other hand to play with the skin on my stomach exposed from the top. "I know .." He trails off. I hold my breath, anxious as I wait to hear what he's going to say next. "But I genuinely don't know if that's enough for me anymore .." Anthony moves my hair to side, and the words he speaks are paired with a slow kiss to the nape of my neck. Beatrix thought she'd never trust another guy again. Jace Summers is someone who is always true to himself no matter what anyone else thinks of him, and he's proud of who he is. He has pastel pink hair, stunning deep brown eyes, and a sweet and silky voice that makes all of the girls swoon. Too bad he's gay though. He has been out since seventh grade and is thankful he has never gotten hate for it, not that it would have bothered him anyway. Alec Walker is someone who everyone knows and likes, though he doesn't consider himself to be one of the popular kids. He has brown hair, hazel eyes with the perfect mix of brown and green, and his side profile could make angels swoon. Neither of those two boys seem very different from each other, both are kind, well-liked, and very handsome. Even if they aren't friends, you wouldn't expect them to dislike each other. Well, sadly that is incorrect. Ever since they can remember, they have each hated each other with a burning passion. Jace thinks Alec is a jackass know-it-all, and Alec thinks Jace is annoying and throws his personality in everyone's faces. Those seem like very small or petty things that they could easily overcome by having a conversation, but both are too stubborn for that. It is a mutual hate that neither will give up. But when one day they get news that seems like the end of the world... it turns out to be the best thing that has happened to both of them. Not at first, but with time. *Has been edited for grammar and general cringe! (And is miraculously one chapter longer than it was originally!)
