Marilyn absolutely despises Jay Rivers.
It's not because he dates everything that is female and has a pulse.
It's not because he treats everyone else as if they're lesser than him and unworthy of his presence.
It's not because he abuses his talent by flaunting it and rubbing it in everyone's faces.
Even though these things contribute to her hate fire, this is not the main reason Marilyn hates him.
Marilyn hates him because in eighth grade he ruined their friendship, and her trust in him.

That was three years ago, and Marilyn has vowed never to forgive him.

When she gets the female lead in the annual high school musical, Marilyn is ecstatic! But when she finds out the person she absolutely despises is the male lead and her character's love interest in the play, everything comes crashing down. She knows this will change her life, but the question is:
Will it be for the worse or the better?
