Magical Divide

In the begining man found itself in an endless fog that trapped their souls, their light, until even that vanished. Humans couldn't fight back against this fog that obscured their very souls and often wondered until they died to hunger or to the lost and confused souls that were also trapped into the fog. The fog seemed as absolute as the nothing it came from but then a miracle occurred. Drawing on the inherent light in themselves, two brothers managed to dispel the fog using a power they called "Arcana". The brothers banished the fog with their light and united humanity under one kingdom. The two would open an academy to teach the masses how to also use Arcana which was renamed to "Magic" by those very first students they taught. Eventually a rift would occur between the two. The brothers had made and discovered many uses of their magic. The youngest had formed a collection of the most dangerous magic abilities known simply as 'Forbidden Black Magics'.. The younger brother feared that if these black magics were used too frequently the seals that held the fog away would break and unleash the fog back unto the world. The elder brother considered this as foolishness. Knowledge, no matter how dangerous had a use and after a heated argument in the halls of their Arcanum the Elder brother departed with the tomes of black magic to form his own school in a land far away. A school that lacked the restrictions of the Arcanum.

That was one thousand years ago. Now a young man named Lorian Aharon was born to a innkeeper Named Delilah Nobark. Delilah tried to raise Lorian as best as she could but when he started displaying his magic powers at the age of five she realized she needed help. Luckily a kindly old man by the name of Kyth who was a loyal patron of the inn revealed himself to be a master at the Arcanum and took the young Lorian as his unofficial apprentice. Kyth would visit the Inn everyday to teach Lorian more about his powers and how to mold his soul into magic.
